Authority of the Believer

  • Authority of the believer is the God given right to resist Satan and to destroy his works of darkness.
  • God is the source of all authority. 1 Cor 15:24-25.
  • Christ had all authority because He possessed the names, titles and attributes of God (Jn. 8:24; (Jn. 1:1); Rev. 1:17-18).
  • Jesus said that the Father had given him all authority (Mat 28-18-19).
  • Jesus demonstrated God’s authority in his ministry on earth by casting out demons, healing the sick by forgiving sins.
  • Jesus taught as one having authority (Mk 1:22)
  • Jesus casted out evil spirits with authority (Mk 1:27)
  • Jesus recaptured the authority Satan stole from Adam. He triumphed over the enemy on the cross and brought all Satan’s dominion to nothing (Col 2:15).
  • After recapturing the authority from Satan, Jesus delegated it to the twelve (Mk 16:15-18) (Luke 9:1-6)
  • Jesus delegated the authority to the seventy two (Luke 10:1-12)
  • Jesus delegated the authority to all believers. (Mt 28:16-20)
  • Believers have the same authority as Jesus because they are seated with Christ in heavenly places (Eph 2:6).
  • Believers have this authority as their inheritance because they are the children of God (Rom 8:17).
  • Believers authority is seen in wearing the full armor of God (Eph 6:10-18).
  • With this authority believer can bind the enemy, foil his schemes, and destroy his weapons. Believers can also cast out spirits, and heal all kinds of sickness and disease in the name of Jesus Christ (Mt 10:1) (Acts 4:18).
  • Every evil work including negative emotions like anger and strife can hinder the believer from using this authority. These things open the doors to the enemy (Eph 4:26-27)

Mountain-Moving Faith

Faith is like flying: Are you flying or falling?

  • A Boeing 747 takes off with about 400 tons of weight equivalent to the weight of 200 cars. Doesn’t this seem like magic?
  • There is a flying mechanism for the airplane. While the gravity is pulling the plane down, the plane generates a force to stay in the air. The force needed to keep an airplane in the air is called 'Lift.' Lift is produced by forcing air to flow over the wings. While the aircraft stays airborne because of lift, the force called 'thrust' propels it forward through the air.
  • Faith is God’s mechanism to keep us flying spiritually. If we don’t have faith we can’t rise above our circumstances. In spite of the weight on us we can fly on the wings of faith. We can rise high in life and reach our destination. How much weight are you carrying?
  • Faith is like Oxygen, the most important element required to sustain our life. Without it, our spiritual health begins to suffer.
  • Faith is a defining mark of being a Christian. The Word of God raises faith to a high level: "Faith, hope and love..." [1 Corinthians 13:13].

    What's Your Mountain?

  • Is it a mountain of bills?
  • Is it a health challenge?
  • Is it a God given dream that seems out of reach?
  • Is it a difficult marriage?
  • Is it children out of control?
  • Is it your battle with the flesh or powers of darkness?
  • Speak to your Mountain:

  • Our Faith should be put in action with the spoken word. Speak to your mountain today, and to the wind and waves. Jesus said "For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says" (Mark 11:23).
  • Stephen was a remarkably full man: "full of faith and of the Holy Spirit…"[Acts 6:8] Stephen was so full of faith that he did great wonders and miraculous signs among the people. It is not just Stephen, Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father." [John 14:12]
  • Power of Praise
